Briefly about me: I am 27 years old. In my family 6 persons are married, and we are 24 people living together in one home. I am married and I have 2 boys. My family situation is alright. I went to school up to 7th Standard in Makelamardi, then I stopped since in this village there is no opportunity for higher classes.
My work for Shramik helps me to maintain my family. Every month I get about 1000 Rupees, which is enough for my family???s needs. Usually, I work 8 hours a day. I was trained to do the machine stitching, straight lines, round lines, design bags and pattern cutting, which is my best work. Although I find this work hard, I prefer working here than in the fields. After my 6 months of training, I started doing piece work. I find leather stitching difficult; fabric work is much easier for me. A very positive point about our self-help groups is that any problem of our lifes, be it a money or family matter, can be shared in the groups and can be discussed. Personally, I find it very helpful. As for Marketing, I have been to an exhibition/fair in Bangalore one year ago. In the stalls you can find such a big variety of bags. So, I got to know how to deal with clients, how to cope with complaints and to explain how we work. Furthermore, I learnt doing the accounts at the end of each day.
What I love most in my life are my children, who are one month and ten years young. I don???t like when other people are talking about my personal life and judging it. I want to continue working until I am no more capable of it. I wish my children to find good work, as a doctor for instance.
